Please Note: Railway Station Access Changed in 2014

West Footscray station has moved a short distance (just 150 m) to the West and the pedestrian bridge is now part of the station.

The new station is of the "island" design with a single, central platform, whereas the old one had a platform on each side.

Arriving at West Footscray, walk up the ramp to the bridge: MMOP is via the stairs (or lift or ramp) on the right (i.e. South). Walk across the forecourt of the new BUNNINGS STORE. If you reach the football ground you have turned the wrong way!

OPENING TIMES

For General Public: details of days, times and prices are on our General Admission page.

Other programs, such as Access Studio, Graphic Students' Workshops and large-group visits, CAN BE BOOKED FOR ANY DAY. See email addresses and phone number below.

Why did we move, and why is the collection still in jeopardy? Read this 2002 document.

Postal, telephone, email addresses :: further down the page.

Public Transport from Melbourne City:

Take a SUNBURY (or SYDENHAM) TRAIN from any city station to West Footscray: travel time 12 min (from last city station), walk 5 to 7 min. There is usually a train every 20 minutes.

Some trains do not stop here at busy times: if that happens unexpectedly, the next stop is SUNSHINE and you can catch a train back to WEST FOOTSCRAY (no extra charge).

At West Footscray Station, be sure to turn to the right at the top of the ramp (on the bridge). Do not pass the Western Bulldogs football oval.

The large road-bridge that goes over the tracks is Geelong ROAD. Walk alongside it, past Bunnings. Do not cross Geelong ROAD. The Museum is on the same side as the station. Cross Geelong STREET at the signals.

There is a car yard, an "iron foundry" then MMOP.

Bus Services in Western Melbourne

There are three bus routes that stop near MMOP.

Route 411 and 412 connect from the Laverton and Nth Altona areas and stop at Robbs Road (near the "Cafe" shown on our map). In the other direction, they connect from Footscray Bus interchange (Paisley St) and stop near Wales St, approximately opposite MMOP.

Route 472 connects from Williamstown, Newport, Yarraville areas and stops on Geelong Road, near West Footscray Station. In the other direction it connects from Moonee Ponds, Ascot Vale, Flemington, Nth Footscray areas, via Footscray centre, to a stop near West Footscray Station.

Car Travel

The Museum is located in Geelong Road, about 300 m past the 'hump bridge' that crosses the railway at West Footscray. It is located in the inbound service road. (Coming from the city) you pass by the Museum (on your right) and make a U-turn where the sign says 'Robbs Road and Graingers Road'. Go right across into the service road and drive back up Geelong Road.

All-day parking is usually available in Robbs Road or Graingers Road but not much in front of the Museum.

Consider public transport.
